The Abilene High Eagles are still flying high after their come from behind 31-27 victory over the Cooper Cougars.

The 4-point win over Cooper was their 8th win in the last 9 tries and most importantly gave them a half game lead over Midland Lee in the district.

The game was decided by a drive by the Eagles in the final 2 minutes, and the coach was not surprised his guys came up big with it counted.

Coach Warren said, "We practice it all the time. We practice it 2 or 3 times a week. We put them in scenarios just like that, you know, our 1 minute offense. 3 times this year, we've had that same scenario except it presented itself right before halftime, and we were successful in getting points all 3 times. Our kids have been in that situation before. There was absolutely no panic. Evin engineered the drive great, and the guys made the plays out in front of him to get it done." Coach Warren added, "It was a great football by 2 very well coached teams. 2 teams getting after each other. The community ought to be really proud of both programs."

The Eagles hit the road this week with a showdown with 2nd place Midland Lee on Friday night. Abilene High is 4-0 in District 2-5A. The Rebels are 3-0.
