By: Officer George Spindler, APD
Updated: October 11, 2012
Wednesday afternoon at about 1:25, Officer David Thompson responded to a report of a vehicle crash in the 2100 block of North Judge Ely Blvd. APD Dispatch had been notified by the driver of one of the involved vehicles that there was a crash and no apparent injuries. Officer Thompson's investigation revealed that a black Chevy Avalanche and a red BMW 325i, were both northbound on Judge Ely Blvd. and were preparing to turn onto East Ambler Blvd. The 49-year-old female driver of the BMW had slowed to turn when the 28-year-old male driver of the Chevy struck the BMW in the rear. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. The Chevy had two occupants and the BMW was only occupied by the driver. None of the occupants reported any injuries. The driver of the Chevy was cited for failure to control speed.

Wednesday afternoon at about 3:25, Officer Danny Blankenship responded to a criminal mischief call at a residence in the 4900 block of Don Juan Street. APD Dispatch had been notified by the victim that he had come home and found his door damaged and that it looked like someone had tried to kick the door open. Officer Blankenship's preliminary investigation revealed that the resident's rear sliding glass door was damaged as a result of an attempted break-in. The officer observed what appeared to have been indicators that an unknown suspect had pried open the door, but not enough to allow entry to the residence. A report of attempted burglary of a habitation was taken.

Wednesday evening, at about 8:15, an officer with the Street Crimes Unit observed a male subject in the 3300 block of Sherry Lane that the officer recognized as having an active arrest warrant. The subject was arrested without incident for a drug-related probation warrant. During a search of the subject, an off-white, crystal-like substance was found in both of the subject's front pockets. The substances tested positive for methamphetamine during a preliminary test. The subject was arrested on his warrant (Motion to Revoke - Possession of Methamphetamine) and for felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
