Eight Year Old Creates Card Site For Anyone In Need

Who knew a few dabs of color, a stamp, and quick drop in the mail box could make such a huge impact?  Yet, it has.

"I just want to help people," said Kira Quintanilla.

It all began from one eight year-old's love for coloring books. 

"When I do them it takes hard work to stay in the lines," said Quintanilla.

The Abilene resident  didn't want to keep all of her art to herself.

So she decided to start finding anyone who needed a little "cheer-me-up".

"She sends them out to where people that she's doesn't even know come up to her and say 'thank
you for sending this letter out'," said Adam Quintanilla, her father.

They opened up the Facebook page "Koloring for Smiles", so anyone anywhere can request a card.

"I never thought that she could affect so many people," said Adam Quintanilla.

The second grader takes all sorts of requests. 

"Get well soon and happy birthday," she explained.  

The most popular, her "get well" cards, like the one Megan Carter received when she was hospitalized in Fort Worth.

"It just made me smile to know that there are people out there that are thinking of me," said Carter.

Her cards are inspiring people all over from Ohio to Nevada to her own home.

"She has Netflix that she could be watching, but she'd rather just sit down with a piece of paper and markers and just do that with that," said her father who lives in Tuscola.

"Because it's just so much fun I don't wan to stop," said the eight year old.

So she'll keep coloring as long as it keeps people smiling.
