Pickin' in the Park, a free, live musical series that has been a favorite with many Abilenians in years past, is back.

The live music will be featured each Friday in October at noon in Minter Park downtown, 2nd & Cypress.

Pickin' in the Park is presented by Friends of the Abilene Public Library, and was formerly a part of the West Texas Book & Music Festival.

This Friday, October 512, the featured artist will be the Happy Fat Band.

Michael "Happy Fat" Gilbert is a well-known local favorite, whose primary style incorporates blues, classic rock and funk.

A guitarist with amazing licks, Gilbert will be joined by drummer De'Anthony Maxx and bassist Roger Rodriguez.
