The Abilene Police Department executed a search warrant at the local Child Protective Services office around 11 a.m. Tuesday Morning.

They said they were looking for any records regarding the Klapheke case.

APD says they had concerns regarding the cooperation of CPS during the investigation of the Klapheke case.

APD states that it is CPS policy to jointly conduct investigations of this nature with law enforcement as specified under section 261.301 of the Family Code.

However, when records were requested concerning the Klapheke case, the delivery of the records was delayed and were only finally delivered to APD after the request of a district attorney.

Upon delivery to APD, the records were thought to be incomplete.

At this time, the investigation does not involve CPS case workers, but rather three supervisors at the local CPS office who allegedly told employees not to cooperate with APD, as well as allegedly tampering with evidence.

Tampering with or fabricating evidence is a third-degree felony.

There is also evidence suggesting that this conduct may proceed the Klapheke investigation

So far, no arrests have been made and there is no word yet on whether any other persons will be charged.

This criminal investigation is ongoing.
