Representatives from Child Protective Services report that a fourth CPS supervisor is under investigation by APD in connection with the Klapheke case, and has been placed on emergency paid leave.

Geneva Schroeder was placed on leave on Monday pending the results of the APD investigation.

Schroeder is the highest-ranking executive in the Wichita Falls based Investigations program which oversees the region that includes Abilene.

Representatives from the Abilene CPS say that the three supervisors under investigation by APD in connection with the Klapheke case have been placed on emergency paid leave.

Gretchen Denny, Bit Whittaker and Barbara McDaniel received memos Friday notifying them about the decision.

The memos come from the Assistant Commissioner telling them that this is due to the current police investigation.

During this time, they must remain accessible to the commissioner and a CPS field director.

They will be considered to be on alternate work duty and may possibly be called in to work on other duties for CPS.

However, they will no longer be supervisors.
