McMurry University Homecoming 2012, "Moving On Up," began at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012, with the traditional tipi raising, and activities will continue through the weekend.

Several thousand Abilene and area students and families are expected to visit Tipi Village on campus Friday, Oct. 26, as the men's and women's social clubs erect authentic Native American dwellings and tell visitors about the history and culture of different tribes.

Judges will check all the tipis for authenticity at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the winners being announced at halftime of the McMurry-Langston football game on Saturday, October 27.

Reunion dinners will honor the classes of 1952, 1962, and 1972 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The traditional bonfire will begin about 9:30 p.m. Friday in Wah Wahtaysee Park along with a Pep Rally, followed by the freshmen beating the drum throughout the night and until the kickoff of the football game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The McMurry Theatre Department will present "Return to the Forbidden Planet" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Saturday and at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Amy Grave Ryan Little Theatre.

An art exhibit by McMurry alumnus Raymond Ochs '93 will be open in the Ryan Fine Arts Gallery.
