The staff at the Melvin Martin Center for Children's Safety (Safety City), located at 2601 South 7th Street, want to express their thanks to the residents of the Big Country for their continued support.

They invite you to their Fall Festival this coming Saturday, October 27th, as part of the Halloween spirit.

Safety City, beloved by the community and the children that have visited and benefitted from their curriculum, is staffed by members of the law enforcement and fire fighter community.

Officers of the Abilene Police Department, Fire Fighters of the Abilene Fire Department and Troopers from Texas Department of Public Safety assist Safety City throughout the year. This Saturday is a time for them to open their doors while inviting the community to come out and enjoy a great and safe place to trick or treat.

Admission is free and you'll also be able to tour the newest facilities for the kids, including the fire and police stations.

Enjoy the wonderful streets and buildings of this miniature city that has been donated and maintained through private donations, community businesses and organizations.

So, come have some fun Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.

If you come hungry, there'll be food and beverages for sale. There will be all sorts of games, demonstrations and plenty of treats.

Children will be eligible to enter a drawing to win one of four children's bicycles (two 12-inch and two 20-inch) donated by the Abilene Police Officer's Association. Each model is designed for a boy or girl.

If you are a business or community organization interested in celebrating and getting involved in the festivities, please contact Safety City staff at 325-676-6096 to reserve a booth (RSVP by 4 p.m. on October 25th).

Business partners will be actively involved in handing out treats to the kids. All proceeds from the sale of food and beverages will benefit Safety City.
