We are continuing to check on the story of the woman who wrote a letter in which she claims to have seen Hailey Dunn alive in a mobile home in Odessa.

We have found that Sonja Rene Callahan was the victim of a reported kidnapping from a few months ago.

Callahan reported that a man and a woman took her from Odessa to San Angelo in April of this year as they were on the way to a drug deal.

Callahan says they held her at knife point after they got the illegal drugs and, she tells police, they then took her purse, pushed her out of a moving vehicle, and left her for dead.

Law enforcement officers arrested two people in connection with this case, but a Tom Green County grand jury determined that there was not enough evidence against the man for the kidnapping charge. The woman has been released from jail on bond.

However, the man was arrested recently in Odessa on drug charges.
