Text of Letter About Possible Dunn Sighting

By: Kevin Osgood
Updated: October 25, 2012

Roughly four months ago two sisters in Abilene got a letter from their sister in Jail in Odessa. The letter was a narrative of what their sister, Sonja Callahan, claimed to have seen in a drug house in Odessa Texas in January 2011.  She described seeing a young girl being held that matched the description of Hailey Dunn.

We obtained a copy of that letter and interviewed those sisters as well as the author of the letter, and the investigators working the Hailey Dunn case.

We have shared portions of the letter in our reports, on Thursday we received clearance from investigators that our publishing the letter will not harm their investigation so we have posted a text version of it here for you to read for yourself.

Authorities tell us while much of the specific information in the note has turned up little, it has opened new avenues and new opportunities to interview more people about the case.

As always, if you have information that could be helpful in this case, please call your local law enforcement agency or the FBI.

The original version of the note is in pencil and very difficult to read. We typed the letter just as it was written, with the exceptions you'll find noted.

Please know there is also strong language in the letter.

If you click on the link below you will be able to read the text of the letter.
