Police in Houston, Texas are investigating a bizarre crime that played out like something straight out of a horror movie.

A man wearing a hockey mask and armed with a machete went on a rampage, slashing two sleeping homeless men.

Based on their statements to police, the attacker looked similar "Jason" from the popular "Friday the 13th" horror movies.

A neighbor who saw police and the two men after the attack had no idea the situation was so serious.

"Nobody picks on them but I didn't know what they were doing," he said.

The attack was described as brutal and disturbing, with both men suffered severe cuts.

Virtually everything the two men had with them at their makeshift homeless camp had blood on it.

C.J. Gary was riding his bicycle in the neighborhood and noticed the trail of blood on the sidewalk.

"It's kind of messed up. There are some of them behind that building over there sleeping on the side sometimes, you know," Gary said.

The two men never got a look at the suspect's face because of the mask, but police believe he's about 6 feet tall and weights around 200 pounds.

The attacker remains on the loose.

The investigation will be handled by HPD's major assault unit.

Both victims are expected to survive.
