School looked a little different for Beau Hamilton on Friday, that is, principal Hamilton.

"I bet my friends think that it's really cool. Because being principal is sometimes a big deal", says the second grader.

Beau is swapping his desk and crayons for an executive chair and a pen, as his grandparents won this privilege in a silent auction, benefiting the school. And now, Beau enjoys being the big man on campus, and through all the fun, has even learned a thing or two about responsibility.

"It can be hard to get kids to agree with you on things, like with bad things that they're doing. It's hard because sometimes you're gonna have to really work", explains Beau.

After a brief meeting with his students, Beau heads to a classroom to reward a colleague for her great work.

From the looks of it, Beau may have found his calling.

"It's really fun. I think that I might want to be a principal someday, but maybe not", says Beau.

But what does the real principal think of Beau's work?

"He's been able to really conquer the language even, in just a short amount of time. So he really could take my job over, I might have to watch out", jokes Carla Garrett, principal.

From reading the morning announcements, to tackling the stacks of paperwork, and addressing his faculty members, Beau has his work cut out for him, at least for one day.

The silent auction included several opportunities for students to wear a different hat for the day, such as "librarian for the day" and "music teacher for the day". The school tells us the auction brought in around $2,600 for the school district.
