"We had planned to be done by Sunday afternoon," Explains Hardin Simmons University student Rebecca Loney.  "We found out Saturday we might be able to stay here a little longer than expected!"

When Loney and eleven of her classmates traveled to Washington D.C. last week for a model United Nations conference, they never expected they'd get caught in one of the biggest storms to ever hit the United States.

"It's been pretty grey and dismal out there," says Loney.

The group, along with one professor, has been keeping safe inside a nearby hotel.
They're also right next door to FEMA, which may be why they're among the few who have yet to lose power.

"We've seen so many people running back and forth back and forth, trying to figure out what to do with these situations," said Loney.

While the group waits patiently, crossing their fingers for a flight back to class tomorrow.

"We're all getting cabin fever really bad," says student Mindy Rogers

They're certainly not missing out on anything educational.

"It's really taught cooperation, coordination, time management, leadership skills," said Loney.
