Abilene Pediatric Dental Sending Candy to Troops

Over the last couple of weeks, Abilene Pediatric Dental has been hard at work collecting candy for troops.

Candy for Those Over Landy was created to give Dyess deployed troops a happy Halloween.

Businesses and families have donated over 30 pounds of unopened candy to be sent overseas.

Upon donation, children receive a smile bag filled with their choice of cartoon character toothbrush and toothpaste as well as a small toy.

It's a small thank you for contributing to a greater cause.

"It really affects us," says community relations director Rebecca Martinez. "It touches us in one way or another. Everybody knows somebody that's over there, you know, fighting for the greater good. And this is just a small way that we can say thanks."

Monday, the candy will be presented to Sargent Perez after which Family Readiness will send it off in the next care package.
