Abilene Teen Kills Friend, Sentenced To Probation

Updated: November 2, 2012
Joseph Fowler was charged with criminally negligent homicide, and was found guilty earlier this year.
Today in court the judge said there was nothing he could do to bring the victim back, but he could try and change Fowler's life for the better.
Fowler will serve five years probation, he was ordered to get his GED, and to go to counseling.
The shooting happened in January of last year at a trailer park on Arnold boulevard in west Abilene.
Fowler first claimed a revolver found at the scene was his grandfather's, and he wanted to show his friends during a night of drinking and smoking marijuana.
After his story changed several times, he admitted he and two friends were playing Russian Roulette.
However, he said he thought the gun was unloaded before it went off in his hand, killing Michael Huffman.
After the hearing, Huffman's grandmother said, that judging by Fowler's attitude on the stand today, it will not be long before he is back in court and sentenced to the full range of punishment which is two years in state jail.

Comments

The mugshot says it all. He lied from the beginning, scared or not, not an excuse and he gets probation? Ridiculous. Too bad Michael Huffman doesn't get a second chance.
