APD: Woman Claims Boyfriend Bit Her After Argument

Monday night at about 9:20, Officer Cory Valencia responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 300 block of North Mockingbird Lane. APD Dispatch had been notified by a female assault victim that the male subject that assaulted her earlier in the day and had returned to the residence. Officer Valencia learned that officers had responded to an assault earlier in the day, around 2 p.m., and took an offense report for misdemeanor assault involving the same male subject and his girlfriend. During the original preliminary investigation, the male subject had fled prior to officers arriving to the incident scene and the female victim refused medical treatment. Officer Valencia learned that the assault had resulted from a verbal argument that escalated to physical violence. In the original report, the victim alleged that her boyfriend had attempted to choke her and that she had been bitten by him. Officer Valencia contacted the male subject on the premises of the apartment complex and arrested him for misdemeanor assault family violence.

Monday night at about 9:50, Officer Adrian Slaymaker responded to a reckless driver call. A concerned citizen had notified APD Dispatch about a reckless driver that the citizen feared was intoxicated. This witness observed the suspect vehicle disregard a red traffic light and then saw the vehicle nearly strike a curb before moving into the witnesses traffic lane. The witness assisted in this investigation and provided a description of the suspect vehicle and direction of its travel. Officer Slaymaker located the suspect vehicle parked in the 2600 block of Post Oak Road. Officer Slaymaker contacted the male driver and noted the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. He also observed the vehicle engine was still running. Officer Slaymaker also observed that the driver displayed indicators of intoxication. The driver refused to perform standard field sobriety tests or submit to providing a breath sample. A records check revealed the driver had one previous conviction for DWI. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor DWI with previous conviction.

Monday night at about 10:50, Officers James Davis and Quint Woody responded to a check welfare call at a residence in the 700 block of Sycamore Street. APD Dispatch received a call from a male who explained that he believed that his daughter had been assaulted after receiving a phone call from her. Officers contacted a female adult subject and her child at the residence. The preliminary investigation revealed that the female child was under the age of 17 and had been struck in the face by the mother's hand. An injury to the child's face was observed and consistent with the assault allegation. The investigation also revealed that the child had allegedly angered her mother because the victim had made a phone call to her father. The mother was also intoxicated. The child was placed in the care of Child Protective Services and the mother was arrested for felony injury to a child.
