Voters from both Coleman and Novice voted for the consolidation during yesterdays election.
That means that starting next August, students who previously attended Novice will be going to Coleman County schools.
However, the detachment petition could still go through.
That would mean more than half of the land encompassing the Novice school district could go to Jim Ned.
Members of the Novice school board voted to accept that petition, and now its up to board members at Jim Ned ISD to accept it.
Jim Ned ISD is located in Taylor County, which has many Coleman County residents upset.
That decision should be made next week during the next board meeting.
Officials have yet to say whether that decision would affect the consolidation agreement.
