Sales Tax Revenue Down in Abilene

By: BigCountryHomePage.com Staff
Updated: November 7, 2012
The stats released by the state comptrollers office show that sales tax revenues were down over seven percent last month compared to a year ago.

Other Big Country cities also didn't fare so well, with Brownwood, Snyder, and Sweetwater also seeing decreases.

Abilene is still above total revenue for the year compared with last year, but that growth has reversed in recent months.

Sales tax revenue is an important indicator of economic health, and is one of the ways to measure how well retail businesses are performing.
