Election Triggers Gun Sales

Gun manufacturer stocks are a hot commodity on Wall Street in the wake of Tuesday's election.

Gun shop owners are reaping the benefits, too.

Some are selling ten times what they normally do as customers load up.

"Our ammo and our guns have literally been flying off the shelf," says Rich Chatmas, co-owner of The Gun Cleaners in Waco, Texas.

It's been the trend at the gun shop, especially over the last two days.

Customer Brian Richardson has been anticipating President Obama's re-election for months.

"I was a little concerned, because I know that the current president is real big on banning guns, especially assault rifles," he said.

So he stocked up on a rifle, two pistols and ammunition.

"It's usually full, but not only are we selling, it, but we're actually having trouble getting it in," Chatmas said.  "We've done several thousands of dollars worth of gun sales in the last couple days, and I know our brothers and sisters in the bigger gun stores, they're doing hundreds of thousands of gun sales," said Rich.

That's ten times what he usually sells.

"We can sell a couple guns in a few days. That's usually pretty average for a small store, like us, but to sell 20 or 30 guns in a few days, that's big time for us," Chastmas said.

And while Brian Richardson is concerned about his future gun rights, he says he doesn't think the American people will go down without a fight.

"I think the American population in general believes in the right to bare arms," he said.
