David Robinett talked to Abilene High head coach about going 10-0 on the season and the start of the playoffs.

David said, Coach Warren, you guys finished off the regular season 10-0 by beating Abilene High the other night. It got a little exciting at the end, but the start of the that game, you guys really came out and executed incredibly well."

Coach Warren said, "We did. The 1st haf of the game in all 3 phases of the game, we were clicking pretty well, and to start the 2nd half, the same m/o and got up 28-0 and felt pretty good about it. It got pretty rough there at the end, but  we'll get some of that stuff cleaned up those things ready to go."

David said, "You guys have finished 10-0. You are getting ready for the playoffs. Tell me is different about playoff football from district football."

Coach Warren said, "New intensity. We call it our 3rd season. Things change. There is such a finality to every game. Somebodies going to put their stuff up after Saturday, and we don't want  it to be us. Everything we do in practice, David, has to be done will a little bit more intense preparation, a little bit more "want to", and a little bit more drive."

David said, "I saw an interesting stat over the weekend. Only 15 Class 5A teams are 10-0. How special is that for a team and for a coach."

Coach Warren said, "Well, it's exciting that our players were able to accomplish that. Every Friday night we line up, we get everybody's best shot. They come after us with guns blazin'. A lot of these guys, it will make their season just to beat Abilene High. We hear that all the time. They point toward our game in the offseason. For us to play 10 different teams, 10 different offenses and defenses, giving us their best shot and to win everyone of them is something that I am really, really proud of for our program."

The 10th ranked Eagles meet El Paso Montwood for the bi-district championship on Saturday in Odessa. Abilene High is 10 and oh. Montwood is 8 and 2. Their game starts at 1.
