David Robinett talks to Cooper head coach Todd Moebes about his teams open date and the start of the playoffs.

David said, "Coach Moebes, It is playoff time. Your guys coming off their open date. This is weird time to have an open date, but do you guys feel like you got some good work in?"

Coach Moebes said, "I think so. They did a great job last week focusing on what we needed to do. We challenged them.  They obviously got some rest which was much needed after the long crueling schedule we played. But at the same time, we were excited to get on the practice field. We went to work, and I was really proud of their preparation last week."

David said, "8-2 in the regular season. That's 1 of the best records Cooper has had in the last 10 years. Talk about the accomplishment and the growth of the program over the last 4 of 5 years."

Coach Moebes said, "I have been proud of the kids. That's the number 1 deal. It's them buying into what Cooper football is about. You know, continuing to maintain and raise their expectation in their offseason work. I can't be more happy for our kids."

David said, "Playoff football, what's different in the next 6 weeks. What changes?"

Coach Moebes said, "You know there's no tomorrow. The only type of tomorrow that you get is what you guarantee for yourself by your execution and the game you play that night. You've to make sure and leave no stone unturned. You have to cross ever "t" and dot every "i". Make sure you are not only prepared as a coach, but you are doing the best job you can to prepare your kids for this once in a lifetime opportunity."

Cooper hasn't lost in the 1st round of the playoffs since 2007. The open the Class 5A playoffs on Saturday in Odessa against El Paso Americas. That game starts at 6.
