If you've been to Kirby Lake in South Abilene, you may have noticed just how much trash there is around the lake and the roads that surround it.
Mike Rubner, a member of a local truck club in Abilene has noticed the condition of the lake area and plans to do something about it.

Another man, Ernest Brooks has been fishing out at Kirby Lake since the 1970s.

He says he always picks up after himself and others before leaves. But lately Brooks has noticed many people at the lake who don't pick up after themselves. Brooks has even noticed the view he once enjoyed while fishing is littered with trash. He even says some people are coming out to the lake specifically to get rid of trash.

That's where the Abilene Mud Hogs come in.

Mike Rubner with the Abilene Mud Hogs says they spend time with family out here and hold club meetings. It was at one of those meeting that his daughter said something to him about the trash.
So they decided this Saturday they plan to come out and try to pick up as much trash as they can. Others in the community have heard about the plan and are jumping on board.

It's an idea that Mr. Brooks says he likes.

If you would like to help clean up Kirby Lake, the public is invited to help the group Saturday at noon.
