The Merkel Badgers were able to keep Comfort off the board in their first round win on Friday night.

Merkel jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, and then the defense came up with the play. In fact it was a leaping interception by Pat Bohannan to give the ball back to the Badgers.

A few plays later, quarterback Baylor Mullins would use his feet to get Merkel down the field with a 40 yard run. Comfort's defense would make a stand and get the ball back.

A fumble would give it right back to the Badgers. Then Mullins would make Comfort pay for the turnover with a touchdown pass to Bohannan in the back of the endzone.

Merkel would add another six points to their total in their 20-0 win over Comfort.
