Train Hits Trailer on Midland Parade Route for Veterans

The accident happened late Thursday afternoon in downtown Midland during the annual "Hunt For Heroes" event.

Two flat bed trucks with trailers carrying veterans was traveling southbound on Garfield Street while a train was traveling eastbound along Industrial. One of the flat beds passed the tracks completely, while the other was hit by the train.

Some of the veterans and their wives jumped off the trailer before the train hit.

Officials say four people have died, two on scene, the other two at the hospital.

Out of those injured 10 are in stable condition and 7 are in critical condition.

The Hunt for Heroes event gets its' name from a hunt that would have been held tomorrow for the veterans.
