An armed robbery in North Abilene Thursday left one woman running for her life.

A woman was walking to a friend's house in the 1700 block of N. 7th St. around 7 p.m. Thursday when, according to police, a robber appeared with either a rifle or shotgun and demanded money.

When she pulled the money out, the suspect hit her leg with the butt of the gun, forcing her to drop the cash and giving her a chance to run away.

Police said the robber picked up the money from the ground, but was not apprehended at the scene.

The investigation into the crime continues.
