Thanks-4-Giving Raises Money for Superstorm Sandy

Turkey may not be a staple dish at the bar, but one local bar made it a way to raise money Sunday.

The Ricochet Tavern hosted Thanks-4-Giving, serving a traditional meal at $5 a plate and hosting a silent auction to raise money for victims of Super Storm Sandy. One hundred percent of those proceeds will go to helping victims of the storm, using it as an opportunity for locals to help out on the east coast.

"Cause all these people are having such a hard time, it was such a humongous disaster. And here in Abilene we all give, we try to share, we have things," said bartender Pam Smith. "And we just like to give our hearts and open up, especially here during the holidays."

The money raised will go to the National Red Cross and the Humane Society of the United States.
