As she goes about her day, Sandra Nicholls is more aware of what's happening outside of her home.

"Like I catch myself looking out the window and trying to see, you know, is there anything suspicious," she explained.

That's because there have been a several break ins in her neighborhood that have happened in the middle of the day.

"It is scary, because you think of it happening at night. And we set our alarm at night," said Sandra. "But, during the day, I never even thought of that happening. And now that it has, it's frightening for us."

Her family moved to this neighborhood because they thought it would be safe. And now, she's having to add more security.

"I put sensors on the kids windows because we have an alarm system. So I'm hoping that that will help me feel better," she said.

Though unusual for this neighborhood, it's not unheard of for robbers to strike during the day.

"Break-ins during the middle of the day are very normal for residences. Because nobody's home, they go up, they don't have to worry about people being there," said 1st Alarm owner Turner Cariker.

Sandra tells me she hopes the neighborhood will become more aware, and use the opportunity to help each other out.

"I think we just need to all be aware of our surroundings and who's coming and going, trying to be familiar with our vehicles to know," she explained. "I think that's important for us to kind of be aware of that."

The neighborhood of of Lytle Wayis planning a neighborhood watch party in hopes to decrease the amount of crime.
