Reminder: Drive-In to Host Holiday Event to Help Make Move to Digital

The Town & Country Drive-In will host a holiday event called "Movies & Mistletoe" on December 1st at 6 p.m.

This event will be a fundraiser for their "Go Digital or Go Dark" campaign that will raise funds for digital projectors for the theater.

"Movies & Mistletoe" will be a Christmas celebration that will showcase a number of local vendors selling their wares, an air castle and a visit
from Santa Claus for the kids, the weekly double-feature showing and many more surprises.

Earlier this year, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) announced that all movie theaters would go to digital projection by early 2013.

Though many corporate-owned local theaters have made the switch, the cost for two projectors for the Town & Country Drive-In will be over $160,000 which is daunting for the locally-owned, small business.

The "Go Digital or Go Dark" campaign will feature many fundraisers in hopes to keep the Town & Country Drive-In open to serve Big Country audiences.

"Movies & Mistletoe" will begin at 6 p.m. on December 1st with the first film beginning around 7:30 p.m. at the Town & Country Drive-In, 2902 Vogel St. in Abilene.

Admission will be $8 for adults, $4 for kids 12 and under and kids in car seats are free.

Sponsors for the event and donations are needed and welcomed.

Contact the Town & Country Drive-In at 325-677-9899 for more information about "Movies & Mistletoe" or the "Go Digital or Go Dark" campaign.
