The Abilene High Eagles seemed to be in control of their game with Montwood from the start, and they went on to pick up a 34 to 15 victory over the Rams.

The pass defense stepped up big time for head coach Steve Warren. The defensive back field picked off a total of 6 passes, 1 came on a 2 point conversion and doesn't count in the stats.

The Eagles knew they would have their hands full against the pass happy Rams, and they "D" came through.

Coach Warren said, "It was a nice game plan. It's something we've not ever done before.  We played a 5th defensive back and took a defensive lineman out of the game a good bit of the game. If you make the decision not to put a lot of pressure on the quarterback, you better be picking off some passes, and we did. 6 times, that's got to be some kind of a record. I don't know, but that's a lot. There's a little bit of an unknown there, but we built in stuff to where it's not that big of a change. We're playing the same type coverages just with an extra defensive back out there."

The Eagles continue the postseason on Friday in Arlington. They play the 2nd game of a double header with Cooper against Arlington Lamar at 7 at the University of Texas-Arlington.
