ABILENE - Senior center Steven Werner Tuesday was selected by the Lone Star Conference as its offensive player of the week.

Werner received the conference honor for averaging a double-double of 19.0 points and 14.5 rebounds this past weekend at the ACU/Whitten Inn Classic, where the Wildcats beat York, 93-82, and Sul Ross, 83-66.

Werner contributed 17 points and 16 rebounds against the Panthers, and vs. the Lobos he scored a season-high 21 points in addition to pulling down 13 boards. Werner shared the team lead of three blocks with junior Cornelius Cammock and senior Eric Lawton.

The Wildcats are in action tonight at 7 p.m. vs. Dallas Baptist. All children 12 and under are admitted for free. ACU lost a 79-72 decision to the Patriots earlier this month at The Burg Center in Dallas.

LSC men's teams have a 22-8 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men's teams are currently 7-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 1-1 opposed to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
