Merkel Prepares For Thanksgiving Day Football

By: David Robinett
Updated: November 21, 2012
The Merkel Badgers continue their run in the postseason Thursday night in Midland. Yes, Thanksgiving night.

The Badgers and Littlefield are going to make the pros tomorrow night and play for the Area championship.

It's a little odd to be playing on the actual holiday, but the Merkel coaches and players are looking forward to being a part of the Thanksgiving football experience.

"It's definitely going to be different, but not many people do work on Thanksgiving Day, so you can have Thanksgiving dinner, and then head out to Midland and watch the game  says Head Coach Kieth Mullins.

"It's going to be a real fun experience, you know. You usually go eat with your family and watch college teams or NFL teams play on Thanksgiving, and now that you are the one's being watched it will be really fun and unique." adds Senior Patrick Bohannan.

"At first, you know, some of us were kind of worried it's a short week, Littlefield had the bye, but I think we will be ready just like we are on Friday." says Senior Baylor Mullins.

The Badgers and the Cubs meet Thursday night in Midland at 7:30. It is the only playoff game tomorrow night. The winner is the Area champion.
