CANYON, Texas - McMurry University women's basketball will go in search of its first win of the 2012-13 season this weekend at the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic, hosted by West Texas A & M University on November 23-24.  On Friday, the War Hawks (0-4) take on host WTAMU (6 p.m.), before facing off versus Angelo State on Saturday (2 p.m.) at the First United Bank Center.

These will be the fifth and sixth - of eight - road games for Dr. Veronica Snow's McM team to open the season.

WTAMU (1-3) picked up its first win of the year this past Tuesday, scoring a 78-54 win over UC-Colorado Springs. The Lady Buffs are averaging 57.2 points per game on offense, while allowing opponents an average of 63.2 p.p.g.  West Texas A & M is also being out-rebounded by an average of 1.5 boards per game.

Lacee Logan tops the Lady Buffs' trio of double-figure scorers at 12.5 points per game. Devin Griffin's 11.5 p.p.g. is second on the squad. Chantiquah White checks in at 10.5 p.pg. and is shooting 62 percent from the field, while also leading the team in rebounds at 5.3 caroms per contest.

Angelo State enters the tourney with a 2-1 overall record. Both of the Rams' win have been over McMurry's Heartland Conference mates, St. Edward's (57-47) and Texas A & M-International (53-43). Its lone loss was to Central Oklahoma State (67-64).

Junior Lauren Holt has had the hot start for ASU in the early going. The 6-foot-3 forward is averaging 12.3 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game (all team highs).

Sophomore forward Haylee Oliver is at 12.0 p.p.g. and 7.3 r.p.g. and junior guard Leah LeMaire books an average of 10.5 p.p.g.

For the War Hawks, despite the four tough losses to open the season, Snow's squad has seen some early bright spots. Junior Keshia Collins, who led the team in numerous statistical categories last season, has picked up in 2012-13 where she left off last year.

Collins is averaging 11.8 p.p.g. and 7.0 r.p.g., both topping the team. She has tallied in double digits in three of the team's four outings.

Freshman post player Ana Dominguez is second in scoring (8.3 p.p.g.) and shares rebound honors with Collins (7.0 r.p.g.). The 6-foot-0 Dominguez has rolled up 12 blocked shots already, an average of 3.0 rejections per game.

Fellow freshman Claire Bruffey has provided the spark off of the bench, entering the game as Snow's "sixth player" and averaging 8.0 points per game and better than 20 minutes per appearance.

Veterans Rikeita Thomas and Tory Salazar are both at 6.0 points per game starting in the backcourt.
