"I don't think its right to ask Santa for a whole bunch of stuff because hes busy with so many other kids that he has to give them presents," said the 13 year old who lives at the Ben Richey Boy's Ranch in Abilene.
What he doesn't know is that Santa's got a few helpers.
For years now, thousands of gifts have been given to children like Wayne through the Santa's Helpers gift drive.
"Just seeing the generosity of not only Abilene but the big country and all the people who can, they come together and provide a gift for a child," said Dr. Seth Ardoin, from Abilene Pediatric Dental who are partnering with KTAB news for the drive.
Big Country residents have the opportunity to help check off countless lists.
Whether it be a simple toy, stuffed animal or even a guitar pic, children at homes like the Ben Richey Boy's Ranch wont take it for granted.
"A lot of our kids they may not have had a big Christmas before and so this is really an opportunity to have them or let them have that opporutnity to hare in that joy of receiving," said Kerry Fortune, president at Ben Richey Boy's Ranch.
Anyone can drop off a wrapped gift at one of the designated locations.
Which will be collected just in time for Christmas.
"Every one of us whether were 99 years old or 29 years old in the middle of our careers, we all know what its like for that one Christmas day when we open up our gifts," said Ardoin.
Although for Wayne the gifts aren't what make Christmas, he says,
"It's more about being with family and celebrating the birth of Christ."
It's a way to show him and hundreds of other kids the spirit of what it's all about.
The gift drive goes through Dec. 21.
Anyone can drop off a toy at KTAB studios on S. 14th St. or Abilene Pediatric Dental on Buffalo Gap Rd.
