Man Accused of Stabbing Young Woman Speaks and Maintains His Innocence

Emergency personnel were called to a garage apartment in the 1000 block of Matador on October 29th after reports of a stabbing.

Two days later, Robert Latham was arrested in connection.

He speaks with me from jail and tells me he did not do the crime he is being accused of.

"In the broad daylight. Didn't nobody see me walk up to that house or leave from there and it's broad daylight. I find that hard to believe. I find that hard to believe I was there," says Latham.

Latham tells me the day the stabbing occurred he was playing tennis at a park, no where near the scene of the crime.

Latham asks, "If I don't even know this girl, how could my belongings be at her house? That just doesn't add up. Why would I stab her? I mean did I stab her and rob her? I mean, why would I just stab her for nothing?"

He goes on to tell me he thinks someone is trying to set him up, out of revenge possibly from an altercation that happened in the past.

"They have the power to really do anything they want. This is a prime example of somebody getting railroaded," he explains.

With his bond set at $100,000, Latham says he has no choice but to sit in the Taylor County Jail and maintain his innocence, in hopes of someone believing what he says is the truth.

Marlisa, it's so sad that you don't know how to spell.
