Cooper Falls To Arlington High, 27-20

The Cooper Cougars season is over after falling to Arlington High, 27-20, on Friday afternoon at the University of Texas-Arlington.

Cooper tied the game at 20 in the 2nd half of the 4th quarter, but Arlington High answered that touchdown with 1 of their own. Connor Huffman hits Dontha Huffman for a 19 yard touchdown pass with 3:51 to go in the game. The Colts led 27-20 and hung on to win the game.

Arlington High moved the ball in the 1st half, but Cooper forced 2 turnovers and the Colts missed 2 field goals.

Kerry Sims scored the Cougars only touchdown of the 1st half with :06 to go in the half on a 2 yard run. Cooper led, 10-7 at the break.

Arlington came back in the 2nd half to score on 3 of their 1st 4 possessions. Cooper was able to answer 2 of the scores to tie the game at 13 and again in the 4th quarter at 20.

Cooper's final possession of the game ended on an incomplete pass on 4th and 7 at the Arlington High 45.

Cooper ends the season with a 9-3 record. It's the 1st time Cooper has lost an Area championship game in 14 tries.
