On a day dedicated to reminding customer to shop locally, Wild Ones has seen more people stopping by on this Small Business Saturday.

"It's a relief," said Wild Ones sales associate Cassie Zeinert. "You just always see people walking in and they're like relaxed."

"I just believe it's a way to support small businesses in Abilene and the surrounding area," said shopper Kayleen Bergman.

And it's exactly the support that they need.

"It is a huge undertaking to have a small business," said Lynda Sharp, Wild Ones owner. "And we need all the support that we can get."

Giving those small business owners a chance to build some new connections.

"We have seen a lot of new people, and it's nice. It's nice to see new faces," said Cassie. "We have been seeing a lot of people saying, 'Oh, we're going to to come, check you out in a little bit,' or 'I'm going to bring my daughter, I'm going to bring so-and-so.'"

With more and more people out buying locally, business owners and shoppers alike say it shows the support for those local stores

"It's encouraging," said Kayleen. "It's just vital to the community that people get out and support their small businesses and get off their computers and walk into the stores and buy what they need."

Small Business Saturday is a yearly event, but everyone is encouraged to shop locally every single day of the year.
