Last week, KTAB News broke the story of an incident between two Breckenridge police officers. As more details emerge, the Texas Rangers may come in to investigate what happened last Tuesday when a female police officer called for backup at the Breckenridge Golf Course. We have confirmed that one of the police officers have resigned and the other place on administrative leave.

The incident was recorded from an officer's dashcam. A sheriff deputy responds to the officer's call for backup. When he arrives another officer, Bruce Hays, tells him that everything is OK. He has since turned in his resignation. After the deputy leaves the scene, Bill Russell, Stephens County newly elected County Commissioner pulls up.

Russell confirms to KTAB News that it was Billy Wade, the newly elected Stephen's County Sheriff who was acting irate, causing a disturbance. In addition to Officer Adams call for help, she also called Russell to help her with Wade. Russell said he has known Wade for 15 years and Adams thought he could calm Wade down. Russell says he drove Wade home and that was the extent of his involvement.

In an email KTAB news received Monday, Breckenridge Police Chief Larry Mahan says it was reported to him that one of his officers appeared to be intoxicated that morning and that the same officer was also a diabetic and had not taken his insulin for about a week and a half. This officer was put on administrative leave and told not to report for duty until contacted by the chief.
This statement, combined with Bill Russell's account of the incident leads to one conclusion, that officer was Sheriff-Elect Billy Wade.
That statement coupled with Bill Russell's accounts of the incidents of that morning lead to one conclusion, that officer was sheriff elect Billy Wade.

The chief also says that he was expecting Bruce Hays resignation, because he planned to follow Billy Wade to the Sheriff's department when Wade took office at the beginning of the year.

We are still looking into what led up to Officer Jennifer Adam's request for back up.

Many rumors surround what actually took place at the golf course before others arrived, There were no records of an emergency call after midnight from that location.

Sounds like a cover up to me. I would think that someone that irresponsible should not be taking office as Sheriff. People of Stephens County is that what you want protecting your families?
