Advocacy Group Gives Low Marks to Abilene State Support Living Center

The Disability Rights Texas group has released a report that is critical of the Abilene State Supported Living Center.

The group reports that the SSLC's compliance rate with issues related to a settlement agreement between the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Resources and the U. S. Department of Justice has dropped to less than 15 percent, and also indicates that the people who live at the center are at high risk for abuse and neglect.

However, the report's critique is not limited to the Abilene location, but gives poor marks to other state supported living centers in Texas.

Disability Rights Texas cites reports released by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services that the group indicates the Abilene State Supported Living Center ignores basic health and safety provisions.
