By: HPU Press Release
Updated: November 29, 2012
Howard Payne University's Symphonic Band and Concert Choir will present a Christmas Celebration concert on Thursday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. in HPU's Mims Auditorium.

There is no charge for admission, but guests are encouraged to bring a canned good or boxed dry good as a donation.

All of the items collected will go to Brownwood's Good Samaritan Ministries to aid those in need this winter and holiday season.

"The musical selections are sure to get the Christmas spirit in full swing as the students perform many Christmastime favorites," said Corey Ash, associate professor of music and director of bands. "You won't want to miss this musical holiday experience."

The program's selections will include "A Christmas Festival" by Leroy Anderson, "Jingle Bells" by Naohiro Iwai, the "Carol of the Drum" arranged by Floyd Werle, "Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis" by Claude T. Smith, and many more.

Following the concert will be a reception in the band rehearsal hall of the Davidson Music Complex, with music provided by the HPU Student Brass Quintet.

"We hope to see you there," said Ash. "But, if not, may your holiday season be filled with the joy of family and friends. Most especially, may you know the joy of the greatest holiday gift of all time, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior!"
