Law enforcement officers from west central Texas met in Abilene to test their ability to communicate effectively.

The scenario is based on the February freeze of last year that left hundreds of drivers stranded on Interstate 20 east of Abilene.

Department of Public Safety officers and representatives of several Big Country sheriff's offices and police departments gathered at different locations in the area for the exercise.

They say they want to be able to communication to help travelers get through the area without getting stranded again.
