By: ACU Press Release
Updated: November 29, 2012
On Friday, November 30, the ACU Department of Art & Design will host a lecture and Q-and-A session with Dana Tanamachi and Jeff Rogers, two outstanding artists and designers from New York City.

The pair will provide art students, faculty and the Abilene community the opportunity to learn from two of the country's most creative and talented minds. The lecture is open to the public and will be held at 3 p.m. in the Shore Art Gallery.

About the artists

Rogers ('02), a Dallas native and ACU alumni, is a letterer and designer. He opened his own studio in 2010 and also works for SpotCo, a theater-focused advertising agency that does design work for major Broadway shows. His specialties include custom lettering, murals, book design, branding, packaging and posters. He will speak about what he does and how he got there, giving students and the community a better understanding of the art industry and creative process.

Tanamachi is a Texas native and graduate from University of North Texas. She is a graphic designer and chalk letterer who has worked for SpotCo and Louise Fili Ltd., a firm specializing in the design of restaurants and food packaging. She now works as a custom chalk letterer and has been commissioned by impressive clients such as West Elm, Rugby Ralph Lauren, Google, The Ace Hotel, Adidas, EveryDay with Rachael Ray, Lululemon Athletica, and Garden & Gun Magazine. In addition to this, she designed the first ever hand lettered cover for the February 2012 issue of Oprah's O Magazine and has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Design*Sponge, and The Great Discontent.
