The Abilene High Eagles fell Saturday afternoon in a battle between the only two remaining unbeaten teams in Class 5A.

AHS started off fast with their offense, and Marcell Porter to be specific. Porter busted a long touchdown run that gave the Eagles a quick 7-0 lead.

Midway would answer with a touchdown of their own. That score came on a screen pass from Hunter Robertson to Kramer Jarmon, and would tie the game up at 7-7.

The Eagles would be the next to strike, and this time through the air but to a familiar target. Evin Abbe found Porter alone in the endzone for an easy touchdown. AHS would take a 14-7 lead at that point.

The Panthers though would quickly answer with another touchdown. This time it would be Robertson keeping the ball, and taking it in for the score himself. A while later in the second quarter, Midway would find the endzone again on the ground but this time with running-back DeChaar Greer.

That score gave the Panthers their first lead of the game at 21-14.

Abilene High would answer with yet another touchdown. This time it was a pass from Abbe to Douglas Wilson that found pay dirt. A short time later the Panthers would once again answer, but with a field goal this time to give Midway a 24-21 lead at halftime.

The Eagles would come out fast though in the second half. Once again it would be Marcell Porter with a touchdown to give AHS back the lead at 31-24.

Midway woud add a field goal, and it would appear the Eagles were driving for another score. Unfortunately Matt Loftin's kick would sail wide right, and give Midway a chance.

The Abilene High defense would get the Panthers into a 4th and 20 situation, but a pass from Robertson to Jarmon would keep the drive alive. A short time later Robertson would once again find Jarmon for a touchdown with just seconds left.

The Eagles would have one shot on the kick-off return, but would be unable to find the endzone. Midway would move on with a 34-31 victory.
