Ice-Skating Rink Opens in Brownwood

Brownwood's first ice skating rink will be open to the public starting Monday morning and will be available through Saturday during the 4th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival.

The public is invited to ice skate on the synthetic ice rink which is located in the parking lot of the Depot Complex at 600 E. Depot Street.

The rink will be open to the public during the following hours:

Monday, December 3 - 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Tuesday, December 4 - 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wednesday, December 5 - 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursday-Saturday, December 6-8 - 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Cost to skate is $2 per person for a 15 minute session and ice skates are available at no additional cost.

The opening of the ice skating rink will begin a week full of local Christmas activities including the lighted Christmas parade set for Thursday, December 6th at 6 p.m. in Downtown Brownwood.  The 4th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival will take place on Friday and Saturday, December 7th and 8th from 4-8 p.m. each day at the Depot Complex, Adams Street Community Center, and the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  The festival will feature kids games and activities, a rock climbing wall, food, competitions, and loads of family fun.

The festival is sponsored by KTAB-TV, 3M Company, and Wal-Mart.  The ice skating rink is sponsored by TexasBank, Howard Payne University, Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates, and Lee Hoffpauir Chevrolet Buick.
