APD: Woman Robbed at Knife Point, Suspect Linked to Multiple Robberies

Saturday afternoon at about 3, Officer Timothy Pipes responded to a robbery call at a business in the 1100 block of Pine Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a female victim that a male suspect had pulled a knife on her and stole some money after making a demand for it. A description of the suspect and the getaway vehicle were provided and would prove key to this investigation. No one was injured during this crime and a report for felony aggravated robbery was taken. Immediate attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful. However, members of the Patrol Division began to respond to subsequent theft calls that further investigation revealed were probably linked to the same suspect. Specifically, a theft call came in from a business in the 1100 block of E. N. 10 Street at approximately 4 p.m.. Another theft call came in from a business in the 2000 block of Sayles Blvd. at about 5:15 p.m. Sergeant Jason Haak with the Patrol Division analyzed the subsequent thefts and began to see a pattern that included the same suspect description and getaway vehicle. Investigative leads led him and other officers to locate the suspect vehicle at a park in the 500 block of E. N. 7 Street. Officers located the male suspect in a park bathroom. Once contacted and detained, the suspect lied about his identity. A records check confirmed the man's real identity and revealed that the suspect had an outstanding municipal arrest warrant. Two of the victims, one of them being the victim of the aggravated robbery, were able to positively identify the suspect as the person that had entered their businesses and committed the crimes. The investigations revealed that both theft incidents that occurred after the robbery did not involve a weapon being brandished. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from all three businesses. The two misdemeanor theft investigations continue. The male suspect was arrested for felony aggravated robbery, misdemeanor failure to identify and for his municipal arrest warrant.

Sunday morning at about 12:50, Officer Alfred Dixon contacted a motorist in the 700 block of Clinton Street for a traffic violation. A K-9 officer assisted in this traffic stop. Officer Dixon contacted the male driver. During the preliminary investigation, the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle revealed a marijuana cigarette along with marijuana roaches. The vehicle search also revealed a handgun that was located under the front passenger seat. The driver was arrested for misdemeanor unlawful carrying of a weapon and for possession of marijuana.

Sunday afternoon at about 4:40, Officer Robert Brannon responded to an injured subject call at a residence in the 1900 block of Woodard Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a female victim that stated she had been assaulted by her boyfriend and that the boyfriend was still at the residence while she remained outdoors. Officer Brannon met with the involved parties. His investigation revealed that the boyfriend and girlfriend were in a verbal altercation before it turned physical. The boyfriend assaulted his girlfriend by punching and slapping her and then held a knife to her throat, placing her in fear for her life. Knives allegedly used during the incident were seized. The victim requested an emergency protective order. The victim was not transported for medical treatment. The subject was arrested for felony aggravated assault family violence.
