We are now in the month of December, and many football teams across the state are down for the year but Eastland is not one of them. The Mavericks get to play at least one more week after their win over Bangs, and they'll see a familiar face on the other sideline; the Wall Hawks.

"Wall's a great team. I don't know but I think they're beating teams roughly 59-10. They had one little hiccup earlier in the year against Merkel. They're just playing super.  We were fortunate to beat them last year. We've just got to go out and prepare," said head coach Brian Hulett.

A year ago Eastland sent the Hawks home with a one point victory in the playoffs, but that was a different team loaded with seniors. Now the new generation is trying to prove they can go deep in the playoffs as well.

"We've been told since last year 'you're senior class left. You don't have anything left.' That's been the motivation. We want to create our own legacy. We want to leave our own legacy behind here," said quarterback Josh Moylan.

"The kids are playing hard. They believe in eachother, they trust in use, and they trust eachother. We have a group that after a big graduation last year, and starting off a little rough not a lot was expected or though of them. But inside that locker room we believed and fought. They've gotten better each week," said Hulett.

Eastland will get their shot at moving on in the playoffs Friday night when they take on Wall in Brownwood at 7:00 pm.
