Updated: December 4, 2012
Monday morning, Officer Jim Craft responded to a burglary call at a residence in the 1900 block of Lytle Trail. APD dispatch had been notified by the victim that items from her home had been stolen. Officer Craft met with the elderly victim and learned that approximately $2,500.00 in jewelry was stolen from inside her home during a short span of time on 11/29/12. She reported that a male subject, who had been looking for work, was at her residence during that time frame conducting yard work. This investigation continues.

Monday night at about 9:35, Officer Mary Guitar responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 2000 block of South Clack Street. APD dispatch had been notified by a female victim that her husband was attempting to harm her and that she was outside the residence. The victim reported that her husband was still inside their residence. Officer Guitar arrived at the scene and contacted the involved parties. Her investigation revealed that a husband and wife were in a verbal confrontation that escalated outside of the residence when the husband became angry and grabbed hold of the victim's arm and began dragging the victim in an attempt to get her back inside the residence. The assault caused the victim pain and the victim requested an emergency protective order. The husband was arrested for misdemeanor assault family violence.

Tuesday morning at about 1:05 a.m., Officer Andrew Valdez contacted a motorist in the 1500 block of Poplar Street for a traffic violation. Officer Valdez observed the motorist enter his lane of traffic while the motorist was making a left turn. Officer Valdez had to vacate his lane of traffic to avert a collision. Officer Valdez contacted the male driver and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He also observed that the driver displayed indicators of intoxication. The driver conducted field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The driver was arrested. During an inventory search of the vehicle, a .40 caliber pistol was located and seized from inside the vehicle. The driver was taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC was 0.231 and 0.224. The driver was arrested on two misdemeanor offenses: an enhanced charge of DWI (Class A) based on a BAC result exceeding 0.15., and for unlawful carrying of a weapon.
