GREENVILLE, S.C. - McMurry University men's basketball standout, Kenny Williams, has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association National Player of the Week, announced the conference office on Tuesday.

Williams averaged 26 points over two contests last week, including scoring 28 points on Dec. 1 at Arkansas - Fort Smith. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds while shooting just over 58% from the field.

Currently this season, Williams is second in the Heartland Conference in points per game (20.4) and is first in three-point percentage (.727). He also ranks in the top ten blocked shots per game (1.3), field goal percentage (.573) and rebounds per contest (6.7).

When asked about his junior forward, head coach Chris Beard said, "I'm very proud of what Kenny has done so far. He is off to a good start to the season. All individual honors are also a reflection on the team.

"The players who are passing the ball to Kenny and setting good screens are responsible for this honor too. Kenny knows that and that is one of the reasons why he is such a great leader for this program."

Williams' national recognition marks the first for the program this season. He was also named the Heartland Conference player of the week for his performance over his past two games.

Williams and the War Hawks will be back in action on Saturday, December 8, when they play host to the University of the Incarnate Word. The contest at Kimbrell Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
