The Eastland Mavericks face an uphill battle with the Wall Hawks on Friday night.

The Hawks are the 5th ranked team in Class 2A Division 1, and since district play started, Wall is averaging 60 points a game.

It's going to be tough, but the Mavericks have a plan.

"We've got to take care of the ball. We didn't do that the other night. Had a couple turnovers, and that's uncharacteristic. We've got to go back to having no turnovers. Need to create some turnovers with [Wall]. Limit the big plays; they're fast and explosive. We need to do a good job of making them earn everything," said head coach Brian Hulett.

"We have to limit the big plays. We have to take care of the ball, no turnovers, and play sound football against Wall. They're a sound team. We have to play sound with them," said quarterback Josh Moylan.

"We have to take advantage of our opportunities. Continue to run the ball well and when we have opportunities in the passing game, connect on them," said Hulett."

The Mavericks try to put that plan into action on Friday night in Brownwood. Eastland and Wall play at 7 at Gordon Wood Stadium.
