Emergency Fund and Shelter Progam Board Announces Award

The Abilene Area FEMA-Emergency Fund and Shelter Program Board announces the Phase 30award for $47,418. 

The announcement of funds for Phase 30 had been pending Congressional action.  Consequently, the application and review period will be short to enable the EFSP Board to get the funds into the hands of providers as soon as possible. 

The unemployment rate is the primary basis for determining awards from the national program.  The total funds for 2012, is slightly than last year.Human Service organizations and faith-based organizations that provide emergency services relating to food and shelter are invited to apply for a grant. The minimum grant is $300. 

Applications must be submitted to the Abilene/Jones, Taylor County FEMA-EFSP Board by December 19 , 2012  Applications should be mailed to FEMA-EFSP Board, P. O. Box 92, Abilene, TX 79604, emailed to uwab@unitedwayabilene.org or may be delivered to 240 Cypress St, Ste. 200.

Members of the FEMA-EFSP Board are The Salvation Army, Abilene Association of Congregations, Catholic Charities, Taylor County Welfare,United Way of Abilene, Taylor and Jones County Judges and citizens representing the homeless population.
