APD: Man Arrested for Returning to Store

Thursday afternoon at about 4:55, Officer Cory Valencia responded to a criminal trespass call at a business in the 4300 block of Buffalo Gap Road. APD dispatch had been notified by an employee that a male subject was detained by security personnel for allegedly trespassing. Officer Valencia's investigation revealed that the male subject had been previously warned in writing not to return to the store. The previous encounter with the subject had occurred last month. The male subject was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespass.
Thursday night at about 10:30, Sergeant Jason Haak contacted a motorist in the 4400 block of Crawford Drive for driving at a high rate of speed near pedestrians and for another traffic violation. Sgt. Haak contacted the male driver and smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. During this preliminary investigation, Sgt. Haak also observed the driver display indicators of intoxication. The driver conducted field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The driver was arrested and taken to county jail where he provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC was 0.164 and 0.156. The driver was arrested for an enhanced charge of misdemeanor DWI (Class A) based on a BAC result exceeding 0.15.
